Legassi Gardens Apartments and Vegan cafe
is in the leafy green suburb of Pokuase, which is a lively part of Accra, with
lots of local shopping, bars and 'hangouts' called 'spots'. We have views of
the Kwabenya hills, and benefit from the local 'forest reserve' at Pokuase,
giving us cooler than central Accra temperatures, reasonable rain fall, and at
least the feeling that we have 'cleaner' air! Ideal for the adventurous
tourist, intern, volunteer or avid business person looking to tap into the
heartbeat of local life. Pokuase is an area where you can just jump on a trotro
and blend in. We are around 10 minutes from St Johns, Achimota, close to the
shopping and bars of Kwabenya, around ACP area, 20 minutes from Accra Mall or
the new West Hills Mall, by car.
The apartments are set in over 1 acre of
trees, flowers and some pretty weeds...
We are uniquely placed just on the
outskirts of Accra, on a hill just off the Achimota (N6) motorway in a quiet
hillside residential area, just up from the lively retail shopping zones in and
around Pokuase. We are also accessible from either ACP or Pokuase Junction, and
enjoy fast road links to different parts of central Accra.
Accommodation
Our apartments are completely
self-contained with 2 reasonable sized bedrooms, set in our garden compound,
with table tennis, an on-site Convenience Store and Vegan Cafe.
Each apartment accommodates up to four
persons, with big discounts for long stay students or volunteers. There is a
special discount rate for single occupants, and they can enjoy the luxury of
having a spare bedroom for use as an office/study/ or recording studio (as in the
case of at least one previous guest).
Payments are made only monthly in advance.
This arrangement is based on trust, and has worked well so far. This suits
working guests, students on a monthly allowance, or retired guests on a
pension.
The apartments are regularly refurbished
(usually after each long stay occupant), tiled throughout, and tastefully
furnished with local furniture-fabrics-art work, with a basic kitchenette,
private patio and entrance:
The kitchen has a table top cooker, fridge
and cooking pots and utensils
The sitting room has seating for at least 4
persons, with dining facilities, television and fans
The bedrooms have either a double bed,
single beds or bunk beds, wardrobe and drawers, with fan
The bathroom has a shower, toilet and face
basin
The patio overlooks the garden and cafe,
with seating and small table, and a shoe rack
The apartments are decorated to feel like
'home' and are available for short to long lets. We have international guests
from all over Europe, USA and beyond, visiting Ghana for a range of reasons
(study, work, romance) all mixing in an Afrohemian atmosphere!
Live-in staff are on-site to provide
security and assistance whenever needed.
We are also just over a 'flower wall' and
see to your maintenance needs, help you make arrangements as requested, answer
any pressing questions, or are available for a chat from time to time.
Prices
The rent (always negotiable) is inclusive
of your bills:
-electricity, water, gas
-cleaning, washing, gardening, security
(although 'tipping' is standard)
-full maintenance services
-off street parking
-internet access
-backup generator, which we put on when
light is off
-our own bore hole water source with a
filtration system, so that water can be pumped straight into your tank to avoid
water shortages in your apartment
Tours and special services
We organize tours for guests, either with
our local escort or with registered tour guides, knowledgeable about the
history, culture and spiritual life of the country. From our location you can
take day tours to many different areas, including Aburi, Koforidua, Nsawam,
Tema, Cape Coast and more. We also arrange volunteer packages for interested
guests with local charities and organisations.
Legassi Gardens gives you a base from which
it is easy to move around, if you want to travel and see the sites of Ghana or
even the sub-region. We can offer special 'low occupancy' rates for travelers
who intend to spend only a few nights per week at the apartment.
For business travelers, we can provide additional
services that make your stay with us effective and convenient for business
purposes, including arranging a car, secretarial services, an interpreter, and
general business pointers. Not to mention, an early breakfast.
